underground seminary year 2 begins tonight.
“The way to Christian growth is to allow oneself to be puzzled and startled by new apparent complexity. There is great simplicity at the heart of this picture, but it is costly. The price it demands is sustained attention to the specific, and to us strange and perhaps even repellent, first-century ways of thinking that characterized Jesus Is it after all Jesus we want to discover and follow, or would we prefer an idol of our own making?”

prayers, pay pal links and misc strategies are poping up all over to help pay for Mark’s cancer treatment. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story, this is taken from http://www.healingforpalmer.com/
Our dear friend, Mark Palmer has been diagnosed with rectal cancer. We are praying in the name of our resurrected Lord Jesus Christ that he would be healed of this tumor. He also has found that his medical sharing group will not cover any of the costs of his treatment (c. $75,000), as they deem it to be a “previously existing condition.” Thus, we are also praying for and working toward the elimination (healing?) of that debt.
Palmer’s Story:
In August 2003, Mark lost his young wife Jennifer to a swiftly-moving case of stomach cancer. Mark and Jennifer, in their fortitude in the midst of this tragic illness, were bold witnesses of the hope of Christ Jesus to many people far and wide. On November 6, 2004, Palmer was married to Amy Smith. However, two months later, in January 2005, Palmer himself was diagnosed with rectal cancer and was set upon a course of treatment. The most recent turn in this story is that in April 2005, Palmer found that his cancer treatment would not be covered by his insurance and that he would have to bear the cost of this treatment.
You can follow Palmer’s story on his blog… Additionally, the archives of his blog flesh his story out much more fully if you have the time to sift through them.
The website “healing for palmer” is selling books in order to help pay for his treatment.. there is also a pay pal button to donate directly on palmers blog.
Lets get the blog world moving by putting a button on each of our blogs that will link to either marks blog or the website http://www.healing for palmer.com. Let me know if you need any help with putting a link or some kind of button onto your blog…
